So, it's hard to believe but its almost time to wave goodbye to the noughties, and say hello to the 10s! 2009 hasn't been the best year for the creative industry, a result of the recession being that companies cut spending on what they considered to be unnecessary services. I've seen more than a handful of local creative businesses go down with the sinking ship that has been our economy, but I have faith in those who are passionate enough about their chosen profession that they will get back to shore and dry out soon enough! So here is wishing everybody a merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year from everyone here at dbs, we will be sure to see plenty more of you next year because we have big things planned for the website!

Rita Marcalo initially trained in contemporary dance at the Professional School of Lisbon Dance Company, where she was an apprentice, and with choreographers Vera Mantero and Joao Fiadeiro. She performed with Aveiro Dance Company and Lisbon Dance Company.
